With the original living layout intact, this cube house forms the backdrop for the work of various artists. Viltr designed the ridge of the cube house.
The outspoken geometric pattern is inspired by the cube houses themselves. Both the shape and the use of colour correspond to the well-known houses in the heart of Rotterdam. Located on the top floor, this design from PET felt panels is a true eye-catcher!
The Cube Houses (Kubuswoningen) in Rotterdam are one of the city’s most iconic attractions. Designed by Dutch architect Piet Blom, the houses are based on the concept of “living as an urban roof”: high-density housing with sufficient space on the ground level, since its main purpose is to optimise the space inside. As a result, the houses got their distinctive cube shape, tilted over by 45 degrees.
